Christ, my HOPE, is Arisen
On Easter, we sing the "Victimae Paschali Laudes," known as the Easter Sequence. It is a Medieval prayer that is a part of our Liturgy today. It recounts the story of Christ as the Paschal Lamb who died for the redemption of man. "Christ, my hope is arisen" are the words of Mary Magdalene, who found the empty tomb.
Parents, what does this empty tomb mean for you? How does it impact your parenting? Do you parent anchored in the Hope of Easter or in the uncertainty of Good Friday?
During this Easter season, pray over Mary Magdalene's words and allow every detail of your domestic church to be rooted in the unbreakable hope of this empty tomb.
Our one, holy, Catholic, and apostolic Church is a living sign of hope—the certainty that God is faithful to His promises, that His grace is life-giving, and that our weakness is made perfect in His strength. We cannot reawaken a culture that bears witness to the sanctity of human life apart from the Church.
So too, then our home, the domestic church, must also be a living sign of hope. Within the heart of the family, hope is an anchor that holds us steady when the world rages. We cannot reawaken a culture that bears witness to the sanctity of human life apart from God's design for the family.
The Church's doors are always open, and the same must be true with the domestic church. Hope is a gift given to the human person who, made in the image and likeness of God, is ordered to the eternal happiness of heaven. The family is designed to be a glimpse of this heaven—where each member's desire to feel seen, known, and loved by our heavenly Father begins to find its fulfillment through encounters with the Lord in the day-to-day of family life.
Family life must always bear witness to this hope—because we are an Easter people, and Alleluia is our song.
Our Pelican team wishes each of you a Happy Easter. We pray your Sunday is blessed with the peace, joy, and hope of our risen Lord!
