encountering Jesus
After Jesus’s birth, He walked this earth for 33 years before His death. During this time He was able to encounter many people! They could see Him arriving in their village, hear His voice as He taught, they shared meals and tasted the same food as Him, and often felt His touch when He healed them.
God knows that we desire to encounter those we are in relationship with in a tangible way. As bodily creatures, He made us this way! God became Man so we could encounter Him in this radical new way and follow Him to heaven.
Throughout Jesus’s ministry, He established the Church so that after His death and Ascension all people could still encounter Him as the path to heaven. Through His Kingdom, we are saved!
It is through the Church, His Kingdom on earth, that we can also encounter God through our senses.
We hear God’s word through Sacred Scripture
We intimately encounter Christ when we see, taste, and touch Jesus’s Body, Blood, Soul, and Divinity in the Eucharist and receive Him into our being.
We hear Christ through the ministerial vocation of the priesthood as the priest serves in Persona Christi.
We hear God during prayer in the words He speaks to our hearts.
Made in His image and likeness, in a very special way, we see God in one another! Together we live as the Body of Christ!
This week use our Pray, Grow, and Serve devotional to talk with your kids about the ways in which we can encounter Jesus!
