The Eyes to See Him

There is so much to say about the Transfiguration, but today my heart is moved to a place of gratitude for the moments He has lifted His veil and revealed His majesty before my own undeserving eyes. Similarly, my heart is moved to contrition for the moments when He stood before me in full splendor, and I didn’t have the eyes to see him.

Sadly, the latter has happened more often than I want to admit. How about you?

How many times has God revealed His glory to you, and you didn’t realize what was happening? You didn’t respond. You didn’t allow the moment bring you to your knees.

We’re in good company.

Look at Peter, James, and John. The transfigured Lord stands before them, and they are chitty-chatting about tents.

Tents?!

It wasn’t until God the Father spoke from above that they were called to attention—or, more accurately, prostrate.

Each page of Scripture reminds us of what a humble and patient God we adore.

Let’s pray for eyes to see Christ when He stands in glory before us, for the virtue of piety so we may respond with due reverence, and for the courage to reflect His light into the darkness of the world around us.
