Modesty honors beauty
In Mark 5:41, we read about Christ calling a young girl back to life. He took the child by the hand and said to her, Talitha koum, which means, Little girl, I say to you, arise!
Can you imagine being there? Seeing her rise from her bed; how profoundly, breathtakingly, at-a-loss-for-words beautiful that image of her must have been. Christ’s words, Talitha Koum, remind us how a beauty like this is even possible. For our soul is the very breath of God that brings our flesh to life. We are body and spirit—and beauty is the life and love of God that radiates from within. True beauty is an invitation for those in its presence to move deeper, seek its source, and enter into a mystery that moves us in a way we cannot quite put into words. We are left thirsty for more, for our eye to catch once again what moves our heart closer to Him.
While the created world around us drips with the beauty of our Lord, nothing reveals His beauty like a human person created in His image and likeness.
Let’s talk about you for a minute….You were created with great purpose. The unique particularities of who God created you to be are a gift—through them, you reveal God’s beauty to the world in a way that no one else can. The virtue of modesty in dress and behavior protects this precious gift; it protects the intimate center of your being where the life and love of God dwell.
Teaching your child the virtue of modesty shows them how incredibly marvelous and unique their heavenly Father created them
