accepting His gift
For a moment, let’s consider each of us a garden.
A garden is created by a gardener for a purpose—seeds are planted to someday flourish. For this garden, the seeds are gifts, talents, and virtue and the Gardener, is our Lord.
For a garden to bear beautiful fruit, we must allow our soil to be well prepared. The Gardener must have the freedom to till and turn it until He removes sticks and stones that could prevent good rooting from all He desires to plant within us. We need carefully nourished soil and intentional boundaries, so when the Divine Gardener showers water over us, we can use each precious drop. We must allow Him to prune us, sometimes cutting back more than we think is pretty or comfortable because it is necessary for growth. When a flower within our garden becomes trampled, run over by a stranger, we must allow the Gardener to cut the damaged petals and tend to our fragile stock. He brings us from the dust of the soil to a beautiful bouquet. With Him, we are brought to life and the gifts and talents that flourish reveal His hand to the world.
