the least of these
Today, on the final Sunday of this year’s liturgical cycle (can you believe it?) we celebrate the Solemnity of Our Lord, Jesus Christ, King of the Universe! Today we celebrate how big God is! Next Sunday, we begin Advent meditating on the humility of our Lord, allowing Himself to become small — stepping into the brokenness of humanity so that we can encounter Him in a radical and intimate way.
As Catholics, we are called to imitate the life of Christ by living His commands to love God and love our neighbor, honoring the dignity of every person we encounter with great humility. Our all-powerful, almighty, all-knowing God became Man not to be served, but to serve. He is the Way, the Truth and the Life!
The Gospel reminds us that when we give loving care to others we are loving and caring for HIM! We first learn how to love and serve at home. With this week’s Pray, Grow, & Serve, grow in understanding by learning how to "serve the least of these," and pray for faith to see Christ in those who need care.
It has been an absolute joy to journey with you this Liturgical Cycle! We are praying for your parenthood, your children, and your domestic church each day — we hope you are praying for us too!
We hope you will join us in the 2023-2024 Liturgical Year, praying, growing, and serving each Sunday! We will begin next Sunday with Advent through the Psalms and the Jesse Tree. As we prepare for the birth of Jesus, we use the Jesse Tree to learn the story of Salvation! We will meet 25 important people who shared in God’s plan to send us Jesus, open the gates of heaven, and invite us to be His sons and daughters!
And finally, Advent seems to dawn a “busy” season where the hustle and bustle often win out over quiet time with God. Don’t let it.
Be still.
Be still in prayer. Listen.
Be still in your marriage. Rest.
Be still in your parenthood. Nourish.
Know that He is God.
